Exfoliative Cytology of the Stomach

Malignancy of the stomach is readily diagnosed by the technique of exfoliative cytology. The medical profession is beginning to recognize the advantages of utilizing this method in the early detection of gastric carcinoma. Trained technicians who adhere to the details of the procedure described in this paper should achieve a diagnostic accuracy of 90 to 95 per cent.
