The cervical scrape in comparison with the vaginal aspiration and the endocervical swab was shown to be superior as a methodology in the securing of cellular material for cytological study. In the screening of 5,684 women with a high yield of tissue confirmed cancer, the accuracy of the cervical scrape was not enhanced by being used in combination with vaginal aspiration and the endocervical swab.
