The problem of controlling unproven cancer remedies and tests is being approached on three fronts: investigation, education, and legislation. Further implementation of these approaches is needed along the following lines:
Investigation. 1) Greater use of the facilities of Federal government agencies for investigation and control on the national level, including the establishment of a Federal information center; and 2) continuing control efforts coordinating the activities of the federal, state and municipal government agencies, voluntary health organizations, and medical and professional societies.
Education. 1) Extended public and professional educational efforts by the American Cancer Society and others; and 2) National, state and local conferences and congresses open to the public on unproven or worthless health practices and methods of treatment, for the exchange of information and stimulation of official and public interest in the problem.
