One hundred and five patients in a series of 177 patients undergoing lymph node biopsy to establish a diagnosis had nondiagnostic biopsies. Of these 105 patients, 56 (53%) eventually showed a disease related to the indications for biopsy, 31 (29%) were living and well 5 years later or had died of causes unrelated to the indications for biopsy, and 18 (17%) were living and well less than 5 years later.
