Cancer and Pregnancy

A review of 52 cases of carcinoma associated with pregnancy at the Roswell Park Memorial Institute has been presented. In addition, the current literature of malignant conditions in pregnancy has been surveyed.
Clinical and experimental evidence suggests that most cancers are not aggravated by pregnancy and that abortion is not therapeutic.
Fetal involvement by the mother's malignant condition is extremely rare. It did not occur in any of the cases in this series.
There is some experimental evidence to suggest that breast-feeding by mothers with malignant conditions is not advisable.
