We believe that we have demonstrated the capacity of multiple fecal blood testing to direct the examiner to unsuspected, clinically significant colon pathology. By using commercially available guaiac impregnated slides the test is simple, inexpensive, and esthetically acceptable. Restricting the patient to a meat-free, high residue diet during the period of stool collection has greatly increased the accuracy and discriminating ability of the test.
