A group of women, 30 to 80 years of age, presumably well, were examined more or less regularly twice a year for fifteen years. Of the initial group of 1319 volunteers, 537 completed the fifteen-year period. In the course of the examinations, four cancers of the uterine cervix, five cancers of the uterine body, six cancers of the ovary, and two cancers of the vagina were found. The relatively small number of cancers of the uterine cervix is noteworthy. Three cancers of the uterine cervix show no evidence of recurrence thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen years after discovery and adequate treatment. Also in the course of the examination, 547 inflammatory lesions of the uterine cervix were found. Of these, 247 were eliminated by appropriate measures. Eleven cancers of the breast were found in the volunteer group. Each one of these was first discovered by the volunteer herself.
