Erratum

In the January/February 2001 issue, in the article "Cancer Statistics, 2001" (Greenlee RT, Hill-Harmon MB, Murray T, Thun M. CA Cancer J Clin 2001;51:15-36), an error occurred in the legend for Figure 7Go (page 27). The colors for breast and pancreatic cancer death rates in the legend were inadvertently transposed.

FIGURE 7 Age-Adjusted Cancer Death Rates, * for Females by Site, US, 1930-1997

* Rates are per 100,000 and are age-adjusted to the 1970 US standard population.

{dagger}Uterus cancer death rates are for uterine cervix and uterine corpus combined.

Note: Due to changes in ICD coding, numerator information has changed over time. Rates for cancers of the uterus, ovary, lung & bronchus, and colon & rectum are affected by these coding changes.

Figure 7Go is reproduced above with the correct legend. The corrected figure reflects the higher death rates for breast cancer than for pancreatic cancer. We apologize for the error and any confusion this may have caused.

In the November/December 2000 issue, in the article, "External Beam Radiation Therapy for Prostate Cancer" (Horwitz EM, Hanks GE. CA Cancer J Clin 2000;50:349-375), there were two errors on Figures 4 and 5 (pages 355–356).

First, the Y axis for each of these figures should have read: "% bNED Failure." Secondly, the title for each figure incorrectly used the word "Survival" instead of "Failure." We apologize for the errors and any confusion this may have caused.
